Before setting up his own company Paul worked for over two decades in the radio industry. There were lots of highlights in an exciting career including producing a programme called 'The Wonder Years' for Clyde 1, with Stevie Wonder (above with Paul).
Commercial Radio in the UK
Paul worked at radio stations in Devon, Yorkshire, Manchester, East Anglia and Glasgow. Starting as a presenter he worked his way up to be Programme Director at major UK station, including latterly at Radio Clyde in Glasgow.
With a very talented team Paul took Clyde 1 back to market leading position with record audiences. As well as excellent programmes, news and sport there were promotions featuring the biggest artists of the day. Some examples are below, including the chance to win a Mercedes car, in association with Pink, with the winner announced by the artist herself, backstage at her SECC concert.
The excitement of that competition led naturally onto something even bigger and better - The Great Guitar Giveaway - signed guitars by some of the biggest music acts in the world.
On this poster you can see all of the artists involved in the competition that was organised by Paul for 102.5 Clyde 1.
Events & Artists
Clyde 1 was involved in many events, Paul managed broadcasts from Live 8, The Great Scottish Run, T in the Park and many concerts. Here is Paul backstage with some of the artists.
As well as winning audiences and making Clyde 1 the market leading radio station Paul and his team also won a number of industry awards including Music Week UK Station of The Year, Sony Radio Awards and Bauer Programming Team of the Year.
BBC Radio Scotland
After 7 years at Radio Clyde and at the start of his new media company Paul spent a year working on a number of programme and feature productions for BBC Radio Scotland.
