Paul Saunders Marketing Event Managed both of the highly successful Balmaha’s Braw Weekends. The festivals, staged by The Oak Tree Inn in October 2015 & 2016 attracted 5,000 people in the first year and 6,500 in the second.

The initial idea for Balmaha’s Braw Weekend came about as an initiative to celebrate 2015’s year of Food and Drink in Scotland. The owners at The Oak Tree Inn though took the idea to new levels, creating a full and rich experience with entertainment, crafts, demonstrations, live music, rides, attractions, family fun, as well as food and drink.

In 2016 the event started with a sell out 5 course meal produced by some of Scotland’s leading chefs, followed by two days of family fun and entertainment and a night of live music. The event was on a 5-acre green field site, on the banks of Loch Lomond and undercover in a huge marquee and steel shed. There was throughout an incredible atmosphere, with positive reviews from the events visitors.

The 2016 event was sponsored by Glengoyne Distillery, supported by Event Scotland and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. 103.1 Central FM was the official radio station for the festival.

The name and the concept attracted a lot of media interest and we gained coverage in local, regional and national press including The Daily Mail, Herald, STV and Evening Times.

For Facebook we created a preview video (below) for the live music performances on the Saturday night.

It was a pleasure to work with The Oak Tree owners and team on the event. We received excellent event orgaisation support from Sharon O’Rourke of YoYo Events in 2015 and Fiona Baverstock in 2016. A big thank-you also to Dave Arcari for organising the excellent night time music content over both years.
